News from Panauti Part 2

At Macte our focus is not only on fashion but also on the ways we can send help to places where it is needed the most. After the earthquake in Nepal in 2015 we have been actively participating in repairing the damages caused by the tragic event.

One of the ways to help is supporting crafts and businesses that already have a history in the affected areas, such as agriculture. To support local agriculture Trees for Relief organized monthly workshops, free and open for participation. We’re happy that we’re involved in this project.

In August 27th the plant of interest was coffee. Binod Puri-ji from EVON Nursery came to show the best ways to plant this crop in a sustainable and organic manner. Special guests from the Himalayan Arabica coffee company also shared their insight on the value of the Nepalese coffee industry through a brief presentation.

At the end of the workshop two hundred coffee seedlings were distributed among the attendants from the village area.
